Why Did Jesus Heal The Blind Man

Why would jesus touch the blind man twice to heal him surely he had the power to heal him right the first time.

Why did jesus heal the blind man. The man could not see clearly until after jesus laid hands on his eyes a second time. I think it is obvious that jesus could have healed him perfectly. The blind man listened once to jesus and that obedience has resulted in his healing. In other words he is man to be listened to.

To heal a man born blind jesus spit on the ground made some mud with the saliva and put it on the man s eyes john 9 6. In many cases jesus merely spoke and healing followed e g matthew 15 28. Telling the man to keep quiet is standard practice for jesus by this point however pointless it actually is but telling him not to return to the town he was led out of is still odd. For instance when jesus spat in the dirt and made clay to rub on the blind man s eyes to heal him on the sabbath day most people just think yuck what a mess but jesus was making a clear statement to the scribes and pharisees.

This is in comparison to the disciples who were growing in their understanding of who jesus really is. Certainly jesus the divine son of god does not need physical props to work miracles. The pharisees had twisted the commandments so much that they became a burden to men instead of the blessing. Yet in three cases jesus used his spittle in the process of healing.

This is essentially a parable that jesus is acting out for his disciples. If this was unintentional then why was jesus healing so imprecise. A man who is called jesus did this. If this was intentional then what was the purpose or lesson that was meant to be taught.

Also why did the first attempt to heal the man s blindness not seem to work. Then jesus did it again and the man looked intently and was healed and could then see everything clearly. Thus we cannot take. Immediately he received his sight and followed jesus along the road.

He is a prophet. They knew jesus and wanted to follow him but they didn t fully realize what his mission was. This is his very limited knowledge about jesus but it is a first step to the road of salvation. Then his eyes were opened his sight was restored and he saw everything clearly.
